Psathyrella hirta Pk. syn. Psathyrella coprobia (Lange) Smith Cap 1-2.5cm across, convex; dark brown; covered with white veil flakes. Gills adnate, crowded; pallid then purple-brown. Stem 25-50 x 2-3mm; white with fine squamules. Flesh pallid. Odor pleasant. Taste pleasant. Spores ellipsoid, 10-13 x 5.5-6.5ľ. Deposit purple-brown. Cystidia swollen with long throat. Habitat on animal dung. Found widely distributed throughout North America. Season June-October. Not edible.
